“Why?” is the question most often asked during times of trials. God has simply predetermined that it does not always require an immediate answer. During these times of suffering when God “seems” distant, here are a few principles which we can glean from Job’s experience. These are a few answers to the question “Why?”
Job 3:11-12, 23
Question 1
“Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?”
ANSWER 1
I have value! - I was born (Ps. 139:13-17).
QUESTION 2
“Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?”
ANSWER 2
I have purpose! - I am still alive (Gen. 50:20).
QUESTION 3
“Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?”
ANSWER 3
I have a special path!- God is working His plan which I cannot see right now (Rom.8:28).
LESSON - Even when I cannot see how God is working in my situation, I know according to His word that He is at work behind the scenes working for my benefit and his glory. Jer. 29:11-12 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.”
