This is the last phrase of the song Moses taught Israel regarding their eventual apostasy after entering the Promised Land. This song also served as a warning to those nations who would briefly exercise rule over God’s people in order that God might discipline His children through their rule.
1. Enjoy yourselves now because your persecution of God‘s people will come to an end.
Deut. 32:43 “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people:”
2. God will avenge the deaths of His people.
“for he will avenge the blood of his servants,”
3. You have made yourselves God’s enemy.
“and will render vengeance to his adversaries,”
4. He will once again be merciful to His people and bless their land.
“and will be merciful unto his land,
and to his people.”
LESSON - This is clearly a message to Israel, but the applications for us are obvious. God may use evil men to discipline His children, but His mercy towards us is never-ending. It may appear that God is being permissive towards evil men who exercise authority over us, but God is keeping records. His judgment towards them will be as great as His mercy is towards us. All things will be reconciled in God’s timing, and God’s people will never be forsaken.
