All saved people begin with a solid foundation upon which to build their lives. That occurs the day an individual receives Jesus Christ. He is that solid foundation, but great care must be taken when considering what materials with which a person will build the rest of his life.
1 Cor. 3:11-15 ”For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
1. We must invest in things that will last for eternity such as the work of God and service of others.
“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones,”
2. Most people spend their lives focussed upon temporal things that will not matter in eternity such as power, possessions, and prestige.
“wood, hay, stubble;”
3. One day God will measure the cumulative eternal value of our lives.
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.”
4. We will only be rewarded for those things which had eternal value.
“If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
LESSON - Measure your life before God does. Make sure that what you are doing today has lasting value. Live with Eternity in mind.
