THE GREAT COMMISSION
This is the last thing Jesus said to the disciples before he ascended. Here are the marching orders He passed on to us through them:
1. Be filled
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:”
2. Be faithful
“and ye shall be witnesses unto me”
3. Be fruitful
“both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
LESSON - Our natural inclination is to become self-focused. At times I get so busy with life that I fail to notice the ministry opportunities around me. Sometimes even during worship, I enjoy the experience so much that I forget that there are people around me who are hurting. We must awaken to see the obvious “God appointed” opportunities we have every day to be witnesses for him. We should be anxious for his return, but faithfully serving while we wait.
V7, 11-12 “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Then returned they unto Jerusalem.”
Use what you have with the time that he has given you to make a difference in the life of someone today and everyday thereafter.
