Most battles we fight are spiritual.
1. Not fleshly
LESSON - Strong holds or addictions are not purely physical, though many physicians seek to treat them as if they are. When we try to solve spiritual problems by physical means (self-medicating), it gives way to even greater consequences and deeper bondage. Only Jesus can satisfy and only He can heal the spirit.
2 Cor. 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”
2. Not mentally
LESSON - In order to bring our bodies into subjection, we must first begin with our minds. We have the ability to choose our thoughts which impacts our actions and ultimately our feelings. When the very thoughts we CHOOSE to think honor the Lord, so will our lives through the course of time.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
Phil. 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
