As we draw closer to the Lord’s return, the Bible gives clear indication of what societal trends will be.
2 Tim. 3:1-5
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”
1.Self focused
“For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,”
2. Defiant towards authority
“blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,”
3. Flesh driven
“Without natural affection, trucebreakers,”
4. Liars
“false accusers,”
5. Lacking self-control
“incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors,”
6. Proud
“heady, highminded,”
7. Revelers
“lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;”
8. Religious, but not righteous.
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:”
LESSON - There’s a challenge within this passage to consider whether or not we have been affected by this “last days” mentality. Have I become worldly in my thoughts, speech, attitude, etc? Have I allowed my worldview to be slightly altered by societal trends? We should be discerning regarding these things occurring around us. The Bible is very direct regarding our response to this developing culture. “from such turn away.”
If you find yourself remotely drawn to it or even willing to embrace it, you have already been affected by it. Turn before it affects you and eventually destroys you!!
