Stay alert!

Mk 14:37-38 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. LESSON - Of all the people who should’ve remained alert, Peter had been identified by Jesus as the one who who would deny him three times. Instead of praying with Jesus to avoid temptation, he yielded to his physical desire for sleep. Many times when we yield to sin, it’s because we were not spiritually alert and prepared for the temptation. Sleep is not a sinful task, but it is a desire of our flesh which must be controlled and prioritized. If not, our enemies (Our flesh, the world, and Satan) will look for opportunity to pervert it and misuse it. BE CAREFUL!! Other natural physical desires such as sex, eating, and looking nice can also be perverted by our enemies if we are not alert for their temptations. So, stay awake spiritually and be prepared for temptation when it appears. This exercise may help you avoid Peter’s sin of denying Jesus one day.
