The word sanctified means “to set apart to a sacred purpose.” God had a specific plan for Aaron and his children but in order to accomplish it, they had to be sanctified. Blood had to be applied to their right ear, their right thumb, and their right to big toe. God wanted them set apart to hear from God, do His will, & walk in His ways. Only then could they lead the nation of Israel into God’s presence.
Ex. 29:19-20, 45 “And thou shalt take the other ram; and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands upon the head of the ram. Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.” LESSON - Now that the blood of Christ has been applied to THE mercy seat, we believe in the priesthood of the Believer. Believers have free access to God‘s presence, but we are also called to be sanctified through the blood of Jesus. Daily, we must hear God’s word with a desire to do His will and walk in His ways. In doing so, He will use us to direct others into experiencing a relationship and right fellowship with Him. Tell others of the wonderful things God has done for you and of the joy available to anyone who truly desires to know Him in a real and personal way.
