Sanctified for His purposes

Once the Tabernacle was completed, Moses was instructed to sanctify the Tabernacle and all of its contents with blood from the sacrifice. Since Aaron and his sons acting as priests would enter the Tabernacle, they also had to be sanctified with blood. Notice the peculiar placement of the blood upon their person:

Lev. 8:22-24 “And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. And he brought Aaron's sons,”

1. They must be faithful to hear from God.

“and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear,”

2. They must be faithful to obediently serve God.

“and upon the thumbs of their right hands,”

3. They must be faithful to walk with God.

“and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.”

LESSON - These actions were significant and the three parts of the body chosen for a specific purpose. Their bodies were sanctified for God‘s holy purpose. Now that the Holy Spirit lives within us, we are His Tabernacle. We must be sanctified as well! We must also be faithful to hear God‘s word, apply God‘s word, and walk in His ways. God‘s holiness has not changed, therefore His standards remain the same. Sanctify yourself daily through His word that you might be pleasing in His sight.

2 Thes. 5:23 “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
