Paul told these Jewish Believers that if they wanted to experience their version of the Promised Land, the study and application of God’s word is the key.
1. It alive and powerful because God wrote it, it’s from His heart and mind.
Heb. 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful,”
2. God uses it to perform spiritual surgery.
“and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,”
3. God uses it to examine our actions, but also our motives.
“and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
LESSON - As you read the word of God it reads you, examining your actions, thoughts, speech, and motives. As we yield our lives to it’s teachings and the Holy Spirit’s convicting power, we find “rest” similar to the one qualified Israelites experienced entering the land promised to Abraham. However, our “rest” is better because it is anchored in the Lord Jesus. Take God’s word and come rest in Him!
