Ready? This one could be yours!

It is apparent in this passage that Job feels that his death is near. He does not know God’s ultimate plan to restore him. As with any Believer, he is wondering about his legacy and how people will respond to the circumstances surrounding his death. Here are his following assumptions:

1. Even godly people will be briefly dismayed.

Job 17:8-9 “Upright men shall be astonied at this,”

2. People innocent of pharisaism will confront the self-righteous.

“and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.”

3. The righteous shall be encouraged.

“The righteous also shall hold on his way,”

4. The pure of heart with grow in their faith.

“and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.”

LESSON - Going to one’s own funeral mentally can be a healthy exercise. It forces you to contemplate the impact your life is having upon others. It clarifies focus on purpose and goals. It helps answer the question “Does my life really matter?” Are YOU prepared to die?
