As each day brings us closer to the Lord’s return, we are exhorted in this passage to:
1. Be ready
Mt 24:44-47 “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
2. Be faithful and wise
“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?”
3. Be blessed
“Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.”
LESSON - It’s a battle to remain spiritually vigilant, but the Lord’s eminent return should only be part of our motivation. The Lord is always with us (Mt 28:20) and His eyes are fixed upon us right now (2 Chr 16:9). We as God’s people have no reason to fear judgment, so we SHOULD anxiously anticipate reward if we have been faithful. Be ready, be faithful, and expect to be blessed.
