God had given a promise to Israel that the Promised Land was theirs to claim. Although they had not yet possessed all of the land, God was already offering Joshua instructions on how to divide it according to their inheritance. In God’s mind, it was already theirs. It was simply going to require acts of faith to receive what they already owned.
Josh. 13:1, 6-8 “Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee. Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh, With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them”
LESSON - My pastor offered our congregation a good definition of faith. He said, “faith is hearing God’s word, believing God‘s word, acting on God‘s word, then leaving the rest up to God.” God offers us many promises in His word which are ours to claim by faith. If we are going to experience Gods BEST, we too must claim these promises and act on them. Like many of the tribes, we have received much from God’s hand. But like the Levi’s, we also have a greater promise. V33 “But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.”
Have you claimed ALL of your inheritance by faith?
