Following Christ is more than a decision to commit, it is a choice to surrender. A person cannot be saved until he is first willing to repent or turn from what has preeminence in his life, and then place his faith in Christ ALONE.
Mk 1:15-20 "And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
This choice is more important than:
1. Your job
"Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him."
2. Your family
"And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him."
LESSON - Choosing to repent and turn to Christ is transformative. Today, one of our extended family members received bad news from doctors. She has accomplished many things in life and made very good decisions along the way, but today I’m certain she has reflected often upon the most important decision she ever made. Receiving Christ brings joy for today, peace for tomorrow, and hope for eternity. Make sure you know Him!!
