Knowing is NOT believing!

Knowing the word of God will not change your life until you are willing to obey it.

1. You are deceived if you think the key to spiritual maturity is knowledge alone.

James 1:22-25 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

2. For a person to read the word of God with no desire to change is equivalent to a person who looks in the mirror with no desire to improve the image.

“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.”

3. If you read the word of God with the intent to obey it, God WILL change you from within.

“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”

LESSON - Once a person arrives at the place where they are willing to obey the word of God at all costs, that’s when God, the Holy Spirit, implements the truths of God’s word into his life and changes his desires. Obedience then becomes so much easier when his “want to” changes. That’s how we become forever changed and knowledge becomes belief.
