Just as if I’d never sinned!

Acts 13:38-39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

LESSON - The root word “justify” is defined as

1: to show to have had a sufficient legal reason

2: to judge, regard, or treat as righteous and worthy of salvation. Ex-God justifies with his forgiveness and grace the man who comes to him — Will Herberg.

Justification is that blessed event in which God declares a sinner righteous because of his faith in the grace of God. This doctrine separates Christianity from all other world religions. Every other world religion attempts to appease God’s wrath through righteous works and religious activity. The problem is not man’s sincerity, but God’s standard which cannot change. Nowhere in Scripture does the Bible declare that God forgives sin, in fact it says that He punishes ALL sin (Rom 6:23, Heb 9:23). God forgives sinners through faith in Jesus Christ whose finished work allows them to be declared “justified”. Rom 3:22-24 “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” By God’s grace alone, I will stand before Him just as if I had never sinned!
