Jesus, Friend of Sinners

Jesus really is a friend of sinners. I know because I am one. Jn. 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

1. Jesus loved us BEFORE we knew Him (Rom. 5:8).

Titus 3:3-7 “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,”

2. Nothing we do, religious or otherwise can remove our sin (Eph. 2:8-9).

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

3. Through His sacrifice, Jesus has made us joint-heirs with Him (Rom. 8:16-17).

“Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

LESSON - We were unworthy of His grace and mercy. He took the necessary steps so we could become acceptable in our unworthy condition. He now has made us co-heirs to an eternal inheritance for which we are unworthy. He did all of this just to know me. Why neglect yourself of such a friend as Jesus?
