Immediate Obedience

Updated: Jun 11

When you receive instruction from God's word, how do you respond? Do you respond with doubt or willing obedience? Remember that doubt is the enemy of faith. Your response reveals your level of faith in the Lord. Lack of faith leads to consequences, but obedience leads to blessings and joy. Notice the following examples:

Example #1 - Zacharias' doubt regarding the promise of John's birth.

Lk 1:20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

AFTER JOHN'S BIRTH...

V64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

Example #2 - Mary's faith regarding the birth of Jesus.

V38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

BEFORE JESUS' BIRTH...

V45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

LESSON - Trust the Lord! When God speaks to you through His word, respond with immediate obedience. Even if implementation seems utterly impossible, remember this regarding God's character and His work in our lives. V37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."
