How it should work!

Updated: Jun 11

How The Great Commission is supposed to work:

John 1

1. People hear a clear presentation of the Gospel.

V29-30 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me."

2. People respond to the Gospel and get saved.

V35-37 "Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus."

3. New Believers in turn tell others and they receive Christ as well.

V40-42 "One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus."

LESSON - We never hear much about Andrew beyond this passage of scripture. But by bringing his brother Simon Peter to Christ, God used him to set things in motion that changed the world. We see in the Bible how Peter preached in the book of Acts and thousands were saved, all this because of one person's willingness to share his faith with his brother. We have no idea what far-reaching effects the Gospel will have when it is taught to others, we are just called to share it! So share it and you may unintentionally change the world.
