Friends of Job - Part 7
Bildad ask Job in Chapter 25:4 a very thought-provoking question which religious people have struggled with for generations. V4 “How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean?...”
Job answers his question in Chapter 26.
1. We can’t save ourselves because we have no righteousness on our own.
V2-4 “How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength? How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is? To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?”
2. Only He is All-Knowing (Omniscient)
V5-6 “Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.”
3. He is All-Powerful (Omnipotent).
V7, 10 “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.”
4. He is Altogether Holy
V11-12 “The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof. He divideth the sea with his power,
and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.”
5. He is Everywhere, all the time (Omnipresent).
V13a “By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens;”
LESSON - In order for man to obtain the holiness of God, God Himself had to provide the means. Job 28:28 “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
and to depart from evil is understanding.”
Mk. 1:15 “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
