Friends of Job - Part 6
With Zophar thoroughly convinced that Job has somehow sinned against God, he summarizes God’s wrath upon the ungodly during the day of judgment. Though they are true statements, we should not view them with the same arrogance with which they were presented to Job. We should with great humility consider the wrath from which Jesus has saved us.
1. Sin will be revealed against those who have rejected the Lord.
Job 20:27-29 “The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.”
2. He will lose all that he has spent his life obtaining.
“The increase of his house shall depart,
and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.”
3. His name and legacy will not matter, because it is not written in the Book of Life.
“This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.”
LESSON - The take away from this passage is not to point fingers like Job‘s friend, but to humbly examine ourselves and with a thankful spirit seek to help others escape the wrath to come.
