God may have a different plan than mine, so I must choose to accept it as better!
Gen. 37:31-35 “And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no. And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
LESSON - When Jacob was younger, he used deception to steal his brother’s blessing. He had also killed a kid to deceive his father in Gen. 27, and now his sons did the very same thing. As a result, Jacob spent the next 22 years grieving, believing that Joseph was dead. He was forced to reap what he had sown; however, Wiersbe makes note in His commentary that “Jacob thought that everything was working against him (Gen. 42:36), when in reality everything was working for him (Rom. 8:28).
God had sent Joseph ahead to prepare the way for Israel's preservation as a nation.” Life may not be working out according to your plan but rest assured, if you are walking with the Lord it’s all working according to God’s plan!
