The Holy Spirit’s work in the world.
Jn 16:7-11 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”
1. Reprove of Sin
“Of sin, because they believe not on me;”
2. Reprove of Righteousness
“Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;”
3. Reprove of Judgment
“Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
LESSON - Here Jesus gives an overview of what the Holy Spirit will do through the lives of Believers after Jesus returns to Heaven to bring lost people to the Lord.
1. Sin
The Holy Spirit will work through the repentant lives of Believers to be a source of conviction for lost people. That’s why the world is antagonistic towards Christians and loves to see them fall. However, God uses the faithful witness of Believers to save the Lost.
2. Righteousness
Even though the Lord Jesus is gone, the proof that His message is true is evident in the changed lives of His followers.
3. Judgment
Jesus’ triumph over the grave fulfilled this prophecy made by God to Satan in Gen 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” The Holy Spirit reveals through the lives of Believers that Satan has already been defeated. If your life has truly been transformed, the Holy Spirit is using your life to help lost people around you come to Christ.
