Jn 12:23-26 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
LESSON - Jesus understood that unless He died for us, WE would not become Christians. He, in essence, died so that we could become like Him. Just like one kernel of corn has to be planted in the ground in order for ears of corn to grow, He died to reproduce himself in the lives of others. He ask us to do the very same thing, to die to our selfish ambitions so that we might be able to point others to Christ. Only by looking beyond ourselves to see the spiritual need in the lives of others will we ever point people to Jesus so that one Christian can we come two, two Christians can become four, and four become eight. According to this passage. That “servant-like” spirit will one day be rewarded in His presence. To live for Him and others, we must follow his example and die to self! Have you?
