Do you consider yourself a good person?

The Bible makes it very clear that we are defiled by sin to our very core (Rom. 3:23). The world would have you believe that man is basically good. We are not! Our hearts, which represent the very essence of who we are, have been polluted by our sin nature. In fact according to scripture, we don’t know the depth of our own sinfulness. Jer. 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” It is for this reason God commanded in this passage of scripture specific items be placed over the heart of the High Priest who would minister before His holy presence.

Ex. 28:30 “And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.” The High Priest representing Jesus, carried the Urim (light) and the Thummim (perfection) upon his heart while he carried his people upon his shoulders (v7-10). This is God’s will for His people, for our heart’s to be as His (holy & complete). Our High Priest died on the Cross to change our hearts and gave us His Holy Soirit & His word to change our minds and ultimately, our lives. Our goal in life now is to ultimately become like Him, holy and mature in our faith. Are you fully utilizing the resources He has provided you to fulfill the will of God and become like Him? Mt. 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
