Are you closer to the image of Christ now than one year ago? Has there been significant spiritual growth in your life or have you digressed? If you are not growing in your knowledge and application of God’s word, it’s because you have not bought into the goals God has set for your life:
1. Ultimate Goal - Lead others to spiritual maturity.
Heb. 5:12-14 “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers,”
2. Intermediate Goal - Grow to spiritual maturity ourselves.
“ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.”
3. Immediate Goal - Understand that spiritual maturity is the application of knowledge, not knowledge alone.
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
LESSON - We can accomplish every goal in life and still fail if we do not actively pursue righteousness. Not only are we responsible for ourselves, but God has commanded that we help others. Set a goal to become more like Jesus and to help someone else do the same this coming year. As a result, I hope our spiritual “after” picture will look better than our “before”.
