Because “I said so”!

Updated: Jan 9, 2020

We must beware the influence that doctrines of men can have upon our beliefs. Here are a few of their characteristics identified in scripture: Jn 7:16-21 “Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.”

1. They contain words w/o corresponding action, It’s hypocritical!

“If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.”

2. They are prideful and man centered.

“He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true,”

3. They create their own morality believing truth to be relative.

“and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?”

4. They focus on sight, not faith.

“The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.”

LESSON - The doctrines of men exist all around us, permeating our culture, perpetuated by it’s architect, the Devil. Beware even the smallest aspects of these deceptive doctrines. Once incorporated into your thoughts, they will eventually control your life. Follow the doctrines outlined in God’s Word. They alone are truth!!
