Are you playing with sin?

Updated: Jun 11

Most people have no plan for avoiding temptation. Too many Christians view it as simply a way of life. Few seek avoidance until consequences become great! For too many Believers, the consequences are lasting. God’s word provides a better solution.

1. Develop a love for God’s word and obey it.

Prov. 7:1-5 “My son, keep my words,

and lay up my commandments with thee. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.”

2. Maintain a frequent Bible study and internalize what you learn.

“Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.”

3. Occupy your mind with biblical wisdom in order to avoid temptation.

“Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister;

and call understanding thy kinswoman:

That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.”

4. Learn the lessons of others who have fallen into sin.

V24-27 “Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.”

LESSON - The transformative affect which God‘s word has upon Believers is necessary in order to avoid disaster. Have you become comfortable with sin? Not only are you NOT experiencing God’s best, you are also living dangerously close to lasting consequences, even death. Stop playing with sin! It definitely is NOT playing with you!!
