You cannot fail if you are walking with the Lord.
1. The situation - Satan has a stronghold.
Mt 17:15-17, 19-20 “Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.”
2. The problem - God must have failed me because God’s people have failed me.
“And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.”
3. The solution - God is the source of our strength, not his people, program, or process.
“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
LESSON - I believe that when Jesus was identifying the faithlessness of His generation, He was referring to His disciples and not the man who brought his son. His disciples were depending upon a process to cast out the demon when in fact what they needed was fasting and prayer. It was their lack of faith which inhibited them from doing their job. When you are walking with the Lord and in complete fellowship with him, you CANNOT fail! Jn 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
