What hinders you?

Updated: Jun 11

God wants His people to be genuinely godly. He understands the influences with which we wrestle in life. It seems that everything outside of Christ seeks to pull us away from our walk with Him. We must acknowledge these things for what they are, enemies of God. Enemies are not to be toyed with, but they are to be conquered! This is the spirit with which we must fight the world’s system which seeks to pull us away from God. God knew that Israel would face a similar situation once they entered the promised land, so God offered instruction through Moses in order to prepare them for the spiritual battles which they were about to face. The question we must ask ourselves is “Are we adequately prepared for the similar spiritual battles we are going to face in life?” Here are the things God warned His people to avoid:

Deut. 18:9-13 “When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.”

1. Child sacrifice/abortion.

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire,”

2. ANYTHING or ANYONE which purports to utilize magic or fraternizes with the occult.

“or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.”

LESSON - God is very clear about how He views these things which we see prevalent in our society and entertainment.

“For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”

God explains the necessity of driving out these influencers from the Promised Land so that His people could become more like Him. It is necessary for us to do the same thing in our lives. We must also eliminate these Influences if we are to be more conformed into His image. He promises that this will be the end result.

“Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.”
