When people consider Esau’s losses, they should also consider how God sovereignly works through the circumstances of men to accomplish His perfect will. Even though Esau had His blessing stolen, God knew:
1. The man Esau would become.
Heb. 12:16, 17 “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.”
2. The nation he would establish.
Gen. 36:43b “he is Esau the father of the Edomites.” Here’s how Easton’s Bible Dictionary describes the Edomites. “The Edomites made war against Israel. They took part with the Chaldeans when Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem, and afterwards they invaded and held possession of the south of Palestine as far as Hebron.” LESSON - Though God does NOT approve of deception, sin cannot withstand the mighty Hand of God from accomplishing His ultimate plan for our world or your life.
