The Evidence of Salvation
It’s been said of many Christians that if their lives were to be put on trial for being identified as a Christian, there would not be enough evidence to bring a conviction.
Here we see evidence in the lives of new Believers who had recently been saved within the context of this passage. Notice the transformation:
1. They made public professions.
Acts 19:18-20 “And many that believed came, and confessed,”
2. They showed fruit of repentance.
“and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men:”
3. They sacrificed in order to follow the Lord.
“and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.”
4. Their testimonies impacted the spreading of the Gospel.
“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
LESSON - Has salvation so changed your life that God has used your testimony to impact others? Too many people who self identify as Christians lack the evidence to convince unbelievers that Christ is worth following. I hope that the change salvation brings will be evident in your life. 2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
