Good Christians should also be good citizens! Though our criticism of politicians may be fair, we must remember the responsibility we have to pray for the people who are in authority over us. Key things to remember:
1 Tim. 2:1-4 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”
1. A poor government is still better than anarchy.
“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
2. The government controls the level of ease by which the Gospel is proclaimed.
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
LESSON - We must maintain a proper balance between our responsibility to stand against ungodly legislation while continuing to prayerfully support our leaders. Remember, God is sovereign and He is The One who is ultimately in control!
