Here is the story of the blind man healed by Jesus. The Jews cast him out of the synagogue when he refused to denounce Jesus for healing him on the Sabbath. Jesus reveals through this passage the reason why he came.
Jn 9:1, 35-39 “And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”
What are the “works of God”?
1. To open the eyes of those who would see.
“Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.”
2. To close the eyes of them who would chose NOT to see.
“And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.”
LESSON - In Jn 5 Jesus said “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” We are now the light of the world. He passed that ministry on to us when He ascended back to Heaven. Our responsibility is to provide light so that others who desire a relationship with Christ may see. For them Who choose to reject Christ, our light to them will be a source of judgment one day as they stand before Jesus. So, don’t worry about the response of people when you share the gospel. JUST GO SHINE!!
