Believe it or not, it’s still truth.

Paul’s purpose was clear in his mind. He was sent of God to offer wisdom to them who mistakenly thought themselves to be wise. The Gospel is shown in this passage to reveal:

1. God’s wisdom

1 Cor. 1:17-19, 21

“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.”

2. God’s salvation

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;”

3. God’s power

“but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

4. God’s judgment

“For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

5. God’s pleasure

“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

LESSON - If someone is deceived, how will they ever be enlightened unless God’s attributes are revealed through the Gospel? It is for this reason, we have been called to share the Gospel because it remains “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” How a person responds to THE truth reveals whether or not he is a fool. The Bible says it plainly “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” because it’s still truth whether or not you believe it.
