The idea that you can handle temptation is foolish. The concept that one can look upon evil without partaking was introduced by Satan to Eve and failure ensued. Here’s why:
1. It’s motivated by pride.
1 Cor. 10:12-13, 31 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”
2. Our weaknesses are common to ALL people.
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:”
3. Our ability to avoid sin comes from God, not from within.
“but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;”
4. God will always provide a way to avoid temptation, but it’s a choice.
“but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
5. You’ve been called to glorify God in your body by avoiding sin.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” LESSON - If you want to avoid sin, avoid situations where you would be tempted to commit sin. It truly is dishonest to say “I fell into sin.” Sin is a choice, so choose wisely.
