The Parable of Pounds!
1. We have a job to do - Spread the Gospel!
Lk 19:13, 15, 26 “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.”
2. We will give an account for our work - How many people heard the Gospel?
“And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.”
3. We will be rewarded accordingly - We will be judged according to our effort, not results.
“For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.”
LESSON - Prior to this parable, Jesus met Zacchaeus and declared his purpose for ministry was to seek and save the Lost. The parable reveals that the responsibility for His ministry has been passed on to us. The question that we will answer individually before the judgment seat of Christ is this, “what did you do with the Gospel?” If you share it, God has promised to multiply it. If we don’t share it, we will stand before him ashamed. Mk 8:38 “Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Are you ashamed of Jesus?
