There is such a vast difference between a secular world view and one that is Christian. Secularists believe that man is basically good and question why a loving God would allow bad things to happen to people perceived as good. Christians understand according to God’s word that all men are sinners and that bad things happen to everyone because we are in a sin-fallen world. Notice the contrast:
1. Secular
Job 2:9-10 “Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.”
2. Christian
“But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” LESSON - If we only received good things from the Lord, how would we ever learn to trust Him? How would we ever learn proper application of the Bible and see our faith increase? May we develop the faith of Job, willing to receive good and bad from the Lord if He wills so that He might create a greater dependence upon Him. Our lips should only offer the Lord thanksgiving and praise, for in all things God is good all the time.
